Indication

 

 

Azithromycin for injection is primarily used to treat a variety of infections caused by sensitive pathogens, including but not limited to:

 

Respiratory infections: such as community-acquired pneumonia (caused by pathogens such as chlamydia pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Legionella pneumophila), acute onset of chronic bronchitis, etc.

 

Skin and soft tissue infection: such as boil, carbuncle, hair follicle and sebaceous gland infection, cellulitis, etc.

 

Urinary and reproductive system infection: such as pelvic inflammatory disease (caused by chlamydia trachomatis, gonococcus, etc.), prostatitis, epididymitis, endometritis, etc.

 

Other infections: such as osteomyelitis, septicemia, legionnaires' disease, syphilis, etc
Usage and dosage

 

Administration mode: intravenous drip.

 

Dosage and course:

 

In the treatment of pneumonia, adults should use 0.5 grams once a day for at least 2 consecutive days.

 

When treating pelvic inflammatory disease, adults 0.5 grams per day, once a day, injection 1 to 2 days later can be changed to azithromycin oral preparation, 0.25 grams per day, 7 days for a course of treatment.

 

Note:

 

Bacterial culture and susceptibility tests should be performed before administration to identify pathogenic bacteria and their sensitivity to azithromycin.

 

For intravenous infusion, the infusion concentration and infusion speed should be strictly controlled. For example, when the infusion concentration is 1mg/ml, the infusion time should be 3 hours. When the concentration is 2mg/ml, the infusion time should be 1 hour. Domestic clinical trials suggest that the infusion time of 500mg/500ml should be 4 hours.

 

Attention should be paid to the patient's reaction during medication, and if discomfort occurs, the drug should be stopped in time and seek medical attention.

 

Adverse reactions

 

Patients who use azithromycin for injection may experience the following adverse reactions:

 

Gastrointestinal reactions: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence, etc.

 

Local reactions: pain at the injection site, local inflammation, etc.

 

Skin reaction: skin rash, skin itching, drug rash, etc.

 

Other reactions: dizziness, dyspnea, drowsiness, bronchospasm, acute attacks of bronchial asthma, etc. A few patients may also have liver function damage, manifested by elevated aminotransferase.

 

Taboo and precautions

 

Contraindications: Allergy to azithromycin or other macrolides is contraindicated.

 

Note:

 

Use with caution in patients with liver dysfunction, and should not be used in patients with severe liver disease. Liver function should be reviewed regularly during medication.

 

Pregnant and lactating women should be used with caution. Animal experiments have shown that azithromycin has no effect on the fetus, but there is still little experience in the application of human pregnant women.
